{Trick or Tote Bag}
Halloween is one our favorite holidays to craft and decorate for. This year, instead of going with the traditional white sheet ghosts, pumpkins, scarecrows and a palette of orange, purple & black, our Halloween will be romantic & gothic.
Romantic & Gothic- think Dark Shadows, the windswept moors of Wuthering Heights, Daphne DuMaurier's haunting "Rebecca" or Edgar Allan Poe's tragic "Lenore".
CLASS FORMAT
The Romantic Gothic Ghosts workshop will feature all the projects shown here, plus a few surprises and variations on the crafts. Complete instructions along with step by step photos, dozens of images and several "how-to" videos are part of the class.
Karla has used her home to show some ideas for displaying your completed work, along with a few decorating tips to help.
The class blog will be available indefinitely.
{Moonlight Moth Fairy Collage}
Even though we're showing these projects as Halloween decorations, because of their "romantic" style and neutral colors, many of them would work year round.
The class is in a blog format and upon registration, you'll receive an email with a link to the blog, a user id and password.
SUPPLIES
Many of the projects use basic supplies that you probably already have in your craft area. In creating our projects, we've made some samples with items you might not have on hand, but most projects can be adapted to a paper only approach.
{gothic notebook}
BASIC SUPPLIES
- color printer
- card stock to print images on- we used a combination of cream, tan, white, parchment, and gray, plus plain white copy paper.
- chipboard or cardboard- about the weight of the back of a tablet.
- scissors- straight edge and optionally, decorative edge. If you prefer to cut with an X-acto knife, you can use that.
- adhesive- we like Crafter's Pick Incredibly Tacky and The Ultimate for chunky for embellishment. For smaller areas, a good quality scrap booking glue stick will work.
{Art Journal} SPECIAL SUPPLIES FOR INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS: Victorian cone: paper mache cone from the decoupage section of Michael's. Tote bag: purchased tote bag from Michaels or Hobby Lobby, or about 1/2 yard of burlap to make your own bag; printable fabric Triptych & Gothic Notepad: 1/2" ring binders Moonlight Moth Fairy: wire
SPECIAL SUPPLIES TO PERSONALIZE YOUR PROJECTS
All of our projects have been "foofed" up by using some special "add-ons" that we like, but aren't necessary to complete the project. Here's a list of some "extras" that you might want to have on hand, but we suggest you look at each project to decide which supplies you want to use to personalize the project
cheesecloth or tulle, ribbon, lace, jewelry, crystals, buttons, flowers, keys, etc will make the projects even more romantic and lush.
Supplies you might want to add to your craft kit: Stickles glitter, Martha Stewart fine glitter, and CLEAR Gelly Roll Stardust Glitter pens.
