It's the beginning of January, with its short days, long nights, low light and seemingly unending bleakness. What's a girl to do? Plan something to look forward to, and that's just what Karla and I decided to do.
At the end of February we're going to this art event. It's on Coronado Island off the coast near San Diego, and we're staying in a mansion built in 1898.
Karla's Christmas present for me was an "heiress" getaway pack- everything a jet setting heiress would need for luxurious travel.
Snacks, including pate and Godiva chocolates.
A classic triple strand of pearls appropriate for every occasion.
A bag of money (or salted black licorice). And yes, some heiresses do have a thing for pirates.
While I'm an heiress, I won't be wearing my usual yoga pants and t shirt to bed, I'll be attired in classic pink and black pinstripe pajamas, all the better to have rich girl dreams.
And of course, heiresses must wear diamonds (or rhinestones) with everything.
And no sweat socks for slippers for this heiress- it will be shiny pink slippers and a matching sleep mask.
My Christmas gift made me giggle but it's making our "heiress" getaway seem more real. Being able to look forward to some sunny pampered days at the end of Feb will get me through some of these long winter days ahead.
