"Ode to a Yardstick"- I bet that was a headline that really got your heart racing.
I went to an auction yesterday- and it was a GOOD auction- and I got a great collection of vintage yardsticks with advertising. Along with my other unusual collections of hot water bottles and wooden hangers, I have a thing for old yardsticks too.
Wouldn't you like to make a trip to this trio of shops?
This yardstick says 'Don't let the Metric system "bug" you' on the front and features 100 centipides on the back.
This yardstick with the unusual edge:
is actually a patented skirt marker on the reverse. That was for back in the day when people sewed their own skirts and really wanted to make sure that the hem fell at the right place.
Plaza Saving's yardstick makes a play on the word "longer", saying "The longer you save, the more you earn."
They obviously haven't seen my 401k.
So how's this post "MEASURING" up so far? Let's move away from the yardsticks.
I've done a little bit of spring crafting with some birds and my favorite old wooden spools.
These are in my Etsy Shop, along with some great German embossed die cut calendars from yesterday's auction.
And now for some jumping up and down:
The winner of The Sew-it Book from Indygo Junction and The Vintage Workshop is Cindy from Yapping Cat Studio.
Now, on a completely different page.
This is my husband's new bike- he's VERY proud of it because its made of some super featherweight material that makes it so light that you can pick it up with one finger--well, not quite, but it is light.
He's so proud of his new bike that he's started his own blog.
If you like my blog...well...you probably won't like his blog, because, well...it's all about bikes....and you know...stuff.
But you could go over and tell him how COOL his bike is.
