Karla took me out to for dinner and a movie today to thank me for helping her set up her website. (I didn't really do much of anything- but I decided to take the food & flick anyway) .
We saw Confessions of a Shopaholic because we both loved the books - but the movie was a disappointment compared to the book- you might think the movie is great if you didn't read the books, but we just couldn't get past some of the changes- like how BAD Becky's clothes were. In the book she had good but expensive tastes. In the movie, Becky just didn't seem to have any taste at all.
Karla brought me a valentine's box filled with cookies and paper goodies. I said "where did you get this just gorgeous old velvet box?" Surprise, it's not old- she just sprayed it with Glimmer Mist. I love the look!
So- on to complaints of an estate saleaholic- I haven't been to a good estate sale or auction in a couple weeks. I've been to a few auctions and estate sales, but not the kind that make you leave feeling light headed, giddy & warm and tingly. More like I left feeling like I'd been scrounging scrapping and crawling around looking for SOMETHING to buy.
I went to two auctions and an estate sale to pull together this picture. The brandy snifter was full of match books, but I replaced them with lace- and I spent all Friday morning at estate sales, and all I found was this little pearl tiara with a veil. The mirror came from a second auction- with good stuff, but no bargains.
I did get this pretty "Gibson Girl gone wild" original watercolor? Pastel? I'm not sure of the medium.
Ok, I'm done complaining now.
This was a good mail week. I got my Valentine Fat Book from Dede. She did such a wonderful job of hosting this fun swap and then putting all the books together.
Here are some pages- unfortunatly I don't know who made them because I think most people did what I did, and signed the back- and the backs got glued together. But I've enjoyed them all and I wonder if I could match the maker to her page if I tried?
As part of my "support small businesses", I bought this pretty velvet ribbon from Heather of Pretty Petals.
Hmmm... I better go look around Etsy and buy some stuff support another small business.
I've been working on some envelope books. Little manilla envelopes are bound together, decorated and then filled with fun stuff.
And of course, I'm still knitting...
