Thanks to everyone who came to Karla and my Bling Your Birdhouse party. It was fun to see everyone's creations and meet some folks and visit with some old friends.
I used the random number generator to pick two comments that were winners of my giveaway. Karen won the birdhouse, and Lori won the NEST banner.
I spent part of the day at an auction and got some fun stuff. This is a minature croquet set- I probably should have put a quarter next to one of the mallets so you could get an idea of the size- they are about 4" long, and the balls are just a little over an 1" in diameter. I'm really not sure who was meant to use it- you probably shouldn't give clubs like this to little kids--maybe its for someone with a really little yard.
I got three dolls- I really only wanted the blonde, but they were sold as a group- apparently they've been together for a long time and couldn't be parted. Its sad that if they've been together so long, only ONE happens to have clothes.
This was the doll I really wanted- she looks a little like a cross between Marie Antoinette and Marilyn Monroe. I do have a trick to fix her lazy eye.
A couple of little red headed dolls- these are planned for the tops of boxes, but since I always have more ideas than crafting time they may end up on Etsy. Maybe one of the reasons I don't have that much crafting time is I'm always out buying stuff...
Since it's after Easter, I got this cute Easter elephant for the bargain price of $1.
Perfect place to keep some of the postcards I got at the auction.
I love my vintage paper!
Tintypes are just so interesting. Even if the pictures aren't all that cool, I guess I just enjoy them because they are so old. Can you imagine, at the time tintypes were used, most people probably only had their picture taken three or four times in their life.
I also got a small collection of daguerreotypes. Most aren't in good shape- the lids have seperated from the picture. The cases are so pretty with their embossed velvet lids.
Thanks to daylight savings time, there was still time to walk these silly guys when I got home from the auction.
But now, I better go unpack the rest of auction haul.
