...we've all known a Vain Little Girl, haven't we- here's my tribute to her.
I've been working on several other projects this week. Here's a cowboy themed charm bracelet. I don't know when my fascination with cowboy and western stuff started- I don't like Western movies. It might have been in college when my WESTERN North Dakota roommates introduced me to the Oak Ridge Boys and we'd get ready to go out singing along to "Elvira". 
I started ANOTHER knitting project- I probably have 6 or 7 different projects OTN (on the needles). When I bought the yarn, I asked the ladies at the yarn store if they worked on more than one project at a time, or if they finished everything they started. They laughed and said "We don't finish everything, and we don't like people who do!". This is a loose scarf with metallic filaments and chenille slubs. Its sparklier in person.
This little book "Spread Your Wings" is based on the paperbag books, but smaller- made with coin envelopes. The pockets are labeled for Extra Wings, Spare Feathers & Bird Songs.
The last picture is just for fun- I've been playing with an old old old version of Microsoft Picture and I added wings to my dog Maddie. I used to call her Maddie Sunshine, but now I call her Maddie Butterfly. 
I went to a fabulous estate sale yesterday where everything was 50's retro- blond dining room set with chartreuse cushions, barkcloth drapes, Eames era furniture, boomerang motifs, a complete western/cowboy wagon wheel furniture grouping in the rec room, mod print clothing, a faux leopard coat & accessories (think Twiggy), Lucite shoes with rhinestones etc etc. It was like walking through a museum of the 50's. My first thought that the estate belonged to a couple of Gen Xers who had done a great job decorating true to the error and had decided on a different style, so they were selling it all- later I found out the estate belonged to a 96 year old woman- the house wasn't retro- it just hadn't been redecorated in 40+ years!
We're having a gray day here in Kansas, and once it starts to rain, they're forecasting two days of rain. I was looking at my box of stuff to take to the antique mall to sell and saw all these cheery bright pink things, so I decided to take some pictures of them. The group pictures didn't turn out (bad composition!), but I cropped them, so here are some bits and pieces of 
In an earlier post, I mentioned that I've been making things for Art in the Park. Here are a few of the things I've made- a group of journals with toile backgrounds that feature birds from cigarette cards. I ran across an 1960's McCall's magazine and when I found the Betsy McCall paper dolls, I couldn't resist- I had to cut them out and turned them into this tag set. 
Every night before I go to bed, I've been playing with bits and pieces of broken jewelry, trying to create some new pieces. Here are a couple of necklaces and a bracelet I finished.
I just bought my first card of Memory Frames from Ranger- what an easy way to make a collage or photo charm. 
I like little books because I'm not much of a reader- so the smaller the better....just kidding. 
These little books propped in the bowl are little volumes of Shakespeare. The last picture is some regular size books- with red & gold bindings.
These are some of my favorite stash- mostly because they are colored and very sparkly. I also included a picture of the table I took the second picture on- it's an older hand painted floral table that I got a few weeks ago at an estate sale- it has one leg a little shorter than the others, so I'm going to try and come up with a fix for that- but in the mean time, I think its awfully pretty just to look at.
I've been making some flowery "pretty" collages, working out of a box of wallpaper samples I found in the basement of an estate sale before Christmas. Right now, they are in that "I can't decide if it's finished" state. It's so tempting to just keep gluing away.
