If you've read my blog for very long, you've heard me say how much I like setting up and selling at the Old Summit Country Antique Show.
- It's a one day show. I've never sold at any two or more full day shows where the second day is better than the first. In my experience, 80% of your sales happen in the first three hours. After that, everyone is just kind of waiting to go home. Of course, that's just MY limited experience. In big venues like Round Top or Brimfield, the sales may work differently.
- Set up is easy. I guess easy is a relative word. Hauling furniture and boxes of stuff in 90 degree weather is never really easy, but its made much better by being in a location with no steps and nice wide doors.
- Vendor friends and customer friends. The show is like the "Cheers" of antique shows- everyone knows your name. Other dealers and regular customers get to be friends because the show has such a loyal following.
- Biscuits and gravy. The show starts at 9 am but opens at 7 am for the dealers with a breakfast of biscuits and gravy (and muffins and cinnamon rolls). A day that starts with biscuits and gravy has to be good.
The antique show is always inspiring and makes me want to start the hunt for treasures all over again- after all the next show is in just three short months!
