Yeah! I didn't have to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Karla took pity on us, being far from family and invited us to her cottage for Thanksgiving. She has a big enough house and enough people that we can easily blend in. While Karla was slaving away in the kitchen, I snuck around with my camera and took pictures of her tablescape- a collection of old and new, pretty and funky, glitter and rhinestones.
I have to admit, when she first bought these racing trophies, I wonder WHAT she was thinking- but she sprayed them, glittered them and they are a perfect fit- and they can't help but make you smile.
Before we had dinner, we crafted a bit. I went to put my supplies under a table and found a nest of glitter birds living in a pretty vintage hat- there are surprises everywhere you look at Karla's Cottage...
...including these two little girls who put on their Christmas dresses to get pictures taken for Christmas ornaments.
Madison smiles most of the time, EXCEPT when you want to take her picture. She also "speaks" baby sign language and knows over 30 signs, which is about 28 more than I know.
Madison's mother told me that toddlers can sign things that they aren't able to say. Increasing toddler's ability to communicate is supposed to cut way down on tantrums. Too bad I didn't know the sign for "SMILE".
Miss Sugarwings isn't sure if she's ready for Christmas.
I'm not ready for Christmas either, but this week will be spent rounding up, cleaning and pricing for Miss Frenchie's Brocante, to be held next weekend. If you live in the Kansas City area, stop by.
If you don't live in the Kansas City area, figure out how to get here- it will be worth your time.
